He earned his BA degree in Political Science and History at Cumberland University in Tennessee and went on to continue his education at the University of Tennessee. In the past he has taught  in  the Atlanta area at East Cobb Christian School, North Cobb Christian School, and Cumberland Christian Academy. He has spent the last two years at Heritage Academy in Augusta serving as the Middle School Director. He is currently working on his Masters of Education Leadership degree for Heads of School Administrators through the University of Texas. Mr. McElhannon and his wife Leslie have been married for 27 years and have shared their love for helping people through mission work. They have gone to Hungary on several trips during the summers doing mission work with the CRU, formerly called the Campus Crusade for Christ. While working at Heritage, they have been attending Stevens Creek Baptist Church and look forward to finding a church in our area. He loves the small town atmosphere here in Greene County. His hobbies are reading, mission work, and traveling with his wife.                                                                                                                                                                   Mr. McElhannon says that coming on board with NGA is very exciting for them as it is their next step in their journey through the field of Christian education. He says they could feel the friendliness and the helpfulness of everyone at Nathanael Greene Academy as soon as they walked through the door. They were drawn to NGA because of the people who make up the NGA family and the fact that NGA offers excellent programs, including academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities as well as their storied history and very nice campus.                                                                                                                                                    In the position of headmaster, Mr. McElhannon offers strong Christian leadership, a passionate work ethic, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and fresh ideas while honoring the culture that already exists at  NGA. He says the board has been great in helping them make this transition and he cannot wait to get started!  Nathanael Greene Academy is very excited to have Mr. David McElhannon join us in leading our children as they excel through academic excellence, sports, servanthood, and extra-curricular activities. We welcome him to NGA!
